Oniscus asellus are a common species of isopod in Europe, and have also colonized much of North America.  The  B.C. Maple form is one found in the wild in Canada.  This gorgeous red isopod is making it’s way into the hobby quickly! These are easy to keep, preferring cooler moist conditions.  Once mature they seem to breed fairly readily.

For the moment this species is rare, and letting them loose in your terrarium to be a clean up crew might be a questionable decision, however they should be a good choice for this job, and they breed well so perhaps you should setup a culture out side of the terrarium and seed your terrarium with the offspring from the culture.

While all our isopods are eligible to be shipped via our “Flat Rate 2^nd Day” FedEx shipping option, I’ve found that under all but the most ideal conditions, 2^nd Day shipping is risky.  Going forward, Isopod orders must be shipped via FedEx Overnight shipping to receive a live arrival guarantee.  In addition, having the package held at a FedEx location may also be required, at my discretion, in which case I’ll notify you where the package is being held.  You will need to pickup the package within two hours of arrival unless otherwise arranged.

To keep shipping costs reasonable, I’m offering an add on shipping upgrade. So, here is how to get this cheaper overnight shipping option for your order.  Please follow these directions!  First, add your isopods to the cart, and then make sure that the second day flat rate option is checked, and no other shipping options are checked.  If you have other non isopod items in your cart, you should select the additional shipping option appropriate for that item, or if you need help, contact me. 

Now go back to the isopod listings and select the “FedEx Overnight Shipping Upgrade” option, it should appear at the end of the listings for the isopods, and add it to your cart.  You are all set, you’ll get either standard or priority overnight shipping to your location or the nearest FedEx facility at the low cost of $25 total!  Alternatively send me a message with the items you wish to purchase and I’ll send you back a cost breakdown and a link to make payment! 

In the event of an issue please contact us as soon as possible.  Replacement is the sole remedy for live arrival issues, shipping for replacement orders is the responsibility of the buyer.
